Since the establishment of Po Leung Kuk in the late 19th century by a group of local Chinese under the then Governor of Hong Kong, Sir John Pope Hennessy, K.C.M.G., the Kuk’s original existence has over the century evolved, in line with Hong Kong’s economic development, from a ‘Society for the Protection of Women and Children’ to one of today’s Hong Kong leaders in the provision of social service, education and fundraising.
Located in the headquarters of Po Leung Kuk in Causeway Bay, Po Leung Kuk Museum is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the charity’s cultural heritage. Through exhibitions, seminars and workshops, the Museum shares its century-long historical episodes to public through precious collections and unveils the Kuk’s connection with the Hong Kong society.
