Dear Fellow Members of the Royal Asiatic Society Hong Kong,
In light of the prevailing circumstances in Hong Kong, your Council has again taken the difficult decision of cancelling our meeting in person for the AGM, and instead holding the AGM via zoom.
We propose to hold the virtual AGM at: 6.30pm on Tuesday, 20th April.
We believe that this proposal will best meet with current social aims, while inter alia addressing our Society’s demographic and the present uncertainty around booking a suitable venue for the holding of even a private event.
In any event, to avoid any concern regarding irregularity, we also propose to hold an EGM at the earliest available opportunity, to ratify the AGM and the work carried out thereat.
For obvious reasons, the traditional cocktail party after the AGM will also, once again, be postponed!
A link to the AGM notice and related papers can be found here, including a nomination form for members who wish to join Council. Expressions of interest in doing so are also welcome.
We will shortly be circulating:
a link to the Accounts and Reports which are considered at the AGM; and
further details as to how you may attend the virtual AGM.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at: membership@royalasiaticsociety.org.hk.
Unusual times require an unusual response, and we are sure our Society can rise to meet the challenges. We do hope you will be able to join the Council and fellow members at the AGM, and I look forward to meeting with you then.
With best regards,
Helen Tinsley
President, RASHK
