David’s latest book shows photos of the wide variety of people you’d meet in Hong Kong in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and looks at who among them called Hong Kong ‘home’. In this talk he’ll show us their photos and explain how he answered the question. We’ll also hear several people’s stories that didn’t make it into the book.
Each photo has been scanned at high resolution, so David can zoom in to show us its hidden details. He’ll use these details as clues to piece together the stories behind each scene.
This is a richly illustrated talk, using photos from David’s latest book and from earlier books in the series, plus other photos from his collection that haven’t been shown before.
The talk will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by Q&A.
This will be David’s last in-person talk for RASHK before he relocates to the UK in July.
